UPDATE: LAUREL CANYON

Los Angeles, CA -- Laurel Canyon Road, between Mt. Olympus Drive and Kirkwood Drive will be closed today to northbound traffic between 12pm and 3pm for tree trimming services so emergency vehicles can safely pass through.

Northbound traffic will be redirected through Mt. Olympus Drive between 12pm and 3pm. Laurel Canyon Road is expected to reopen by the afternoon rush hour. Laurel Canyon Blvd. will remain open for southbound traffic.

Work will continue through this week to secure the hillside affected by the slide and mitigate against future hill sliding. Additional fencing and plastic tarps will be installed today in advance of the multiple rain storms expected later this week.

City officials will continue to monitor conditions in Laurel Canyon throughout the rain storms. Residents should report any additional sliding/deteriorating conditions to 3-1-1.

Los Angeles Department of Transportation will continue to observe traffic patterns in the area and adjust the Traffic Management Plan as needed. No trucks over 6,000 lbs are allowed on local hillside roads. All trucks must use freeways as an alternate route.
