COUNCILMEMBER RYU STATEMENT ON THE 2028 OLYMPICS

Los Angeles, CA -- Today, City Council voted to approve the City’s Bid to host the 2028 Olympics and Paralympic Summer Games. Due to limited comment and parliamentary procedure, Councilmember Ryu issued the following statement:

“The 2028 Olympic Games could be an amazing opportunity for our City, but we have three loose ends that need to be tied up: a reviewed new budget, renegotiated venue agreements, and an updated financial guarantee from the State.

If any of these do not come through, I will push for our City to end this agreement. This contract must be executed in the best interests of our taxpayers.

I strongly believe the LA28 Bid Committee will succeed in tying up these loose ends and host a wonderful Olympic Games.”
