Geffen gives LACMA $150 Million

The donation allows the museum to proceed with transformation

Los Angeles, CA -- Yesterday, David Geffen gave a $150 million gift to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) to support their campaign to expand, upgrade and unify the museum’s 20-acre campus. This gift brings the museum closer to executing its expansion plans. Today, Councilmember Ryu released the following statement:

“I am thrilled to see this generous gift from Mr. Geffen bring LACMA that much closer to its transformation plans. This is an incredibly exciting time for the Miracle Mile - with construction underway at the Academy Museum and Metro’s Purple Line, this region is experiencing a renaissance like never before - and the new campus at LACMA will be its flagship.”

“I look forward to working with LACMA and the neighboring communities on this historic project as it continues to develop. When completed, these few blocks on Wilshire Boulevard will boast some of the most modern and beautiful museums in the world - with a Metro stop to match.”
