RYU, REC & PARKS EXTEND POOL SEASON AT LOCAL PARKS

Pools at both Pan Pacific Park and Griffith Park will remain open for an additional month, Los Angeles City Councilmember David Ryu and the Department of Recreation and Parks announced today.

Both Councilmember Ryu and the Department of Recreation and Parks agreed to fund an extension of the pool hours, on weekends from 1-5 p.m., through September 29. The pool season was previously scheduled to close after Labor Day weekend.

“Angelenos know that our summer weather does not end on Labor Day.  Due to the recent heat wave, My office has partnered with the Department of Recreation and Parks to extend the summer pool season so families throughout Los Angeles can continue to cool down at Pan Pacific Park and Griffith Park” said Councilmember Ryu, who is also a member of the Arts, Parks, and River Committee. “I encourage families to take advantage of these great community pools through September 29,” said Ryu.

"We are excited to provide extended pool hours at Griffith and Pan Pacific Parks, additional recreational activities for youth and families to enjoy thru the end of September", said Michael A. Shull, General Manager, Recreation and Parks.

Recreational swimming hours after Labor Day will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on weekends. The general admission cost is $3.50 for adults ages 18-64, $1 for children under 17 and seniors 65 and older. For information, visit www.laparks.org.
