I am excited to share with you what we’ve accomplished this past year. From Sherman Oaks to Hollywood, Griffith Park to the Miracle Mile, the Fourth Council District is full of vibrant neighborhoods and iconic landmarks, but most importantly, residents who care deeply about their community and its future. It has been my honor to work with you on making our district a wonderful place to live.
I entered office in 2015 with a fresh perspective and a simple idea: City government that puts residents first, opens its books to the public, and empowers new voices to shape our City’s future. From our Clean Streets program to expanding and improving our parks and my ongoing efforts to study oil drilling health effects in our City, I have worked to see daily life improve for every community in the Fourth Council District. I’ve also become the only City Councilmember to establish a community-run Discretionary Funds Task Force and publish my discretionary spending online. I will continue fighting to improve life in the Fourth Council District and to restore public trust in our City government. Most importantly, I will keep working with you - discussing
the issues our communities face and finding solutions we can build together. There are many challenges that lie ahead, and still much work to be done, but together, we can meet these tests and see that every neighborhood, every community and every resident feels at home in the Fourth District.
I look forward to another year of teamwork and progress.
David E. Ryu
Councilmember, District Four
